These terms govern your use of thebestmovies.lol, a hobby ranking site run by @shittyvibecoder. By creating an account, voting, suggesting a title, or paying for extra votes or a listing, you agree to them.
What this site is
thebestmovies.lol is a public people’s vote. Rank is vote count, not a critic score, studio ranking, or claim that a film is “objectively best.” This is not IMDb, and it is not financial, legal, or professional advice. Use it for fun.
Accounts
You can sign in with email (a one-time link) or with Google, X, or Facebook if those are enabled. You are responsible for the account you use. Don’t impersonate other people or try to smash the ranking with bots, fake accounts, or automated voting.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the site.
Voting
- One free vote per signed-in user per UTC day.
- Extra votes are optional and pay-what-you-want: $1 USD buys 2 votes, in whole dollars.
- When you have more than one vote to spend, Vote’s quantity control lets you cast several at once. A free daily vote is used first, then paid credits.
- Claim #1 spends enough paid credits in one go to put a title in first place at that moment. The amount is recalculated on the server; if someone else voted first, you may need more.
Votes, credits, and ranks can change. We may reverse votes or credits that look like abuse, refunds, or errors.
Adding movies
Suggesting a title is free. Free suggestions stay pending until an admin approves or rejects them. Paying from $15 USD (custom amount, $1 = 2 votes) lists the title immediately and applies those votes to it. We can still hide or remove a listing later if it breaks these terms or the law.
Don’t submit titles you don’t have the right to post in this context, illegal content, or junk meant only to spam the board. Poster URLs must be links you may use; we can hide listings with bad or infringing images. We decide what stays up.
Payments
Paid checkouts are processed by Polar, who acts as merchant of record. Polar (and its payment partners) handles cards, tax, invoices, and refunds. A completed Polar payment is what credits votes or publishes a paid listing — not the checkout click alone. See Refunds and Polar’s own terms.
Acceptable use
Don’t:
- break the law or post illegal content
- harass people, including through names, titles, or spam
- scrape, overload, or reverse-engineer the service in a harmful way
- circumvent vote limits, payments, or admin decisions
We can suspend accounts, hide titles, or refuse service. The board is entertainment, not a guaranteed ranking.
Intellectual property
The site design, code, and original copy belong to the operator unless otherwise noted. Movie titles and related names belong to their owners. We display them for a fan ranking; that is not an official affiliation.
Availability
This is a small hobby project. It can go down, lose data, change features, or shut off. We don’t promise uptime, rank stability, or that a paid listing stays #1 forever.
Liability
The site is provided as-is. To the fullest extent the law allows, thebestmovies.lol and @shittyvibecoder are not liable for lost votes, lost money beyond what Polar refunds, or anything you do because a movie sat at #1. Some places don’t allow these limits; in those places, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 30 days before the claim, or $15, whichever is less.
Changes
We may update these terms. The “last updated” date at the top is the current version. Keep using the site after a change and you accept the new terms.
